Ahhhh….If only life were simpler.
One of the things that I struggle with is how to explain what our industry does simply and succinctly (but alas also somewhat accurately).
Messaging in the enterprise IT business is not as easy as it is for the gentleman in the attached photo. He in the cut-rate beer business selling beer across the street from Camden Yards to people who have been drinking massively overpriced beer for 3 hours at a baseball game and who come across the value proposition "2 beers for $5" after the game and think they have died and gone to heaven.
With that said, though, there are some examples out there where fortunately we all seem to be getting to the point a little more quickly. Here are a few I like...
I think our tag line -- "We help organizations find, control, and maximize their information" -- is not bad. Could be better, but OK.
IBM's succinct "ECM helps companies make better decisions faster" is pretty good.
Hyland says, "We’re a smart group of techno-geeks fanatical about helping our customers make their paper and information work harder." That's kind of fun. I like the techno-geeks bit.
Kofax focuses on "Document Driven Business Process Automation." 5 words. Now we're getting somewhere.
Have you come across any you like? Who can find the one incredible tagline that captures the sublime elegance of a content management solution as succinctly as "Cheap Ass Beer?"
Post 'em in a comment. Maybe we'll round them all up and have a vote.
